According to the local chatter, this Memorial Day weekend was the most successful ever for local merchants. The size of the crowds on the beach would be evidence enough, and several merchants are reporting all-time high profits. Perhaps the economic conditions are causing families to travel to destinations closer to home, or perhaps the word is really out that our small atmospheric island is the best vacation getaway location there is. Whatever the reason, the hope is that this marks the beginning of a wonderful summer.
