Plantation Suites would like to thank the group we had this past weekend. They were great. The group enjoyed a private breakfast for 2 mornings, lunch from Seafood and Spaghetti Works, and a shrimp boil from Little Joe’s Smoke’n Grill. Due to bad weather conditions we had to cancel the bonfire that had been planned. The group made the best of it and had game night in our conference room. We look forward to seeing you next year!!!

Valentines Day was not just your usual holiday at Plantation Suites this year. Our General Manager, Monica Blackwell, utilized her extraordinary creative talents to present a celebration that has been referred to as a “phenomenal blow out”.
Port Aransas has become a major destination for many Winter Texans who choose to leave their frigid climates and spend up to six months enjoying the beauty of our island and to meet with friends from all over the country who they have gotten to know over the years they have been coming. The event was combined with a Chamber of Commerce Open House.
Monica orchestrated a “Bon Voyage” Party for all the Winter Texans combined with the Chamber function. Then she booked the most popular band enjoyed by the Winter Texans (The Medicare Band) and set up a delicious appetizer buffet by Little Joe’s Smoke’n Grill. The staff distributed colorful announcements all over the island, and the word began to spread. The party also recognized local mural artist James Brown.
The event was nothing but fantastic! All the guests were greeted at the front door and invited to tour several of our rooms. While in the rooms, they were able to register for a free stay with one of our package deals or for a week stay next winter. Then they gathered in our meeting room with all their friends to enjoy the wonderful music and food. There were more than 200 people who attended. It was a grand celebration and terrific exposure for the hotel.
Join us on Valentine’s Day at Plantation Suites & Conference Center for the Bon Voyage for Winter Texans and the Port Aransas Chamber open house from 3:30 to 5:30. Dance with Medicare band and snack on the appetizer buffet. Local artist James Brown will reveal his mural. Prizes will include a 2 night romance package and 7 night Winter Texan stay.
Every Friday night Plantation Suites has events for local Winter Texans. On January 29, 2007 the 10th Annual Dine Around will take place. This is a unique night to sample island cuisine from 17 participating restaurants. Attendees can also sample 13 local shops and boutiques. The tickets are $15 per person.
On Friday nights, Plantation Suites will be hosting events for locals and Winter Texans. The first event planned will be on January 5. There will be two shows at 7pm and 10pm. Chico and Dee Dee “of the Drifters” will be featured. Ron, a new local in Port Aransas, has arranged for a variety of activities and he has chosen Plantation Suites as a featured venue.
